8/7 - Sodus, NY to Fulton, NY - Day 53

The theme for today is: “I think that I like this state"

Today we were on the road by 7:20. The temperatures were kinda cool and it looked as if it might rain.  The route was about 71 miles. Last night they told us that there would be vegetable stands, ice cream and rolling hills through out the ride today.

By 9AM we stopped in the town of Fairview for coffee and muffins.  When we arrived some of the other riders had already found a convenience store that had a bakery inside. I got a coffee and a muffin and joined the group across the street at the park. We were on the road by 9:45.

The route map indicated a winery in the town of  Sterling, but when we got there it must have been too early in the day because it was closed.

Throughout the ride today we've been seeing signs for a "Renascence Festive". We we're sure what that was.  It was answered at the next stop at mile 39 when we stopped at the Ontario Orchards Market.  The festival is a celebration of medieval life that is held in the area.  The market was local landmark as well with fruits and vegetables from the surrounding area.  Many pints of fruits were bought and shared among the riders.  I picked up some homemade fudge that we had later in the trip.

The picnic stop was at mile 44. We got there by 11:30 because of the many stops that we made today.

After seating up our tent we when into the town of Fulton for some drinks before dinner.  We ended up at a bar that overlooked one of the locks on the Erie Canal. We lounged outside enjoying the weather and the strong breeze until it was time for dinner at the Golden Corral.
